Then it was on the
road again to reach Dar's parents house. That was so scarry, big,
light, noisy with greetings, hectic with unpacking the car. Finally I found a
tear in the underside of the sofa and squeezed into the lining, perfect hammock
for a smallish cat! Boy did I fool everyone. Dar and mom spent hours looking for me in the house and outside in the
cold and dark. Finally Dar reached his long arm under the sofa to
feel the sagging material again and felt me sleeping in my hammock. It was an
ordeal to get me out, and then I was locked into Dar's room for the
night. Luckily I had food, water, and my toilet. Plus, I got to sleep on Dar's big bed with the flannel quilt. (Dar and mom put a box with a board on top to cover the hole in the lining, so I've lost my best hiding place ever! Drat!)
I also had to
adjust to new voices, and new routines!
You see, in the
beginning, Dar was a young human, living with other young humans, and could fit in perfectly with a
nocturnal feline's lifestyle. We used to stay up late, studying, playing video
games, and watching old episodes of "24". It was a great life.
Dar had found me quite by accident, wandering through the yard of
his rental house. I started sleeeping in the crawl space under the house. It
was fairly safe, and Dar would
feed me! How could I lose. Well, December arrived and freezing North winds blew
right through the small hole I'd found in the crawl space. Plus, with regular
meals I was quickly approaching the point of being too big for the small hole. Dar took me in for a few days, and then we took the drive across
Texas, and arrived at my current, temporary home. In fact, mom created this blog for me to remind Dar that I'm waiting for him, and counting the days when I can come live with him again. In the meanwhile, mom is giving me some schooling of my own! I will be a great cat when Dar sees me next. What mom doesn't know is that I will revert to my old ways once I am with my nocturnal young human!
By the way, I am a striking young cat, with symmetrical stripes on my front legs. And I have gained weight with my new diet including canned cat food.
